During Getafe's famous win at Real Madrid, a floored Rico was struck in the face by Rudiger's knee. It was an action which drew demands from Germany that Rudiger be dropped from their World Cup squad.
For his part, Rudiger has remained unapologetic, which has left Rico unimpressed.
In an interview with La Otra Grada Podcast, Rico said: "Do I still have to apologise to him for letting me live? Rüdiger is a very aggressive player, but at that moment he crossed the line. I can't forgive him."
Rudiger, days after the incident, stated: "The slow-motion replays are terrible. I'm not going to argue with him, but I didn't kill him. You shouldn't exaggerate contact, because if I go in intentionally, I'll injure him.
:It was never my intention to hurt him, but I like to be tough when I play."
