Laporta was re-elected with over 68 per cent of the vote on Sunday.
In reaction, Font said: "I congratulate Joan Laporta , the president-elect, on his undeniable victory.
"I also want to thank the more than 40,000 members who mobilized and allowed us to choose who will preside over the organisation, and of course, all those who supported us.
"We didn't achieve the results we expected, but I want to emphasize that we would have liked a higher turnout. And let's hope this is the last time we have elections like this. We need to modernize the club. We're disappointed that everything we explained didn't come to fruition. We accept the result. And we move on."
Font also said: "What we have defended in recent years is a different Barça, which we have explained in this campaign. It is a noble cause that we will continue to defend and that is well worth it.
"I will continue working to make Barça the Barça I dream of. I believe in this cause regardless of my role because this isn't about names. I work for the cause, not for personal gain, and I will continue fighting to make the club the way I want it to be."
