The Denmark defender, formerly of Chelsea, is with Barca's squad on Tyneside for tonight's Champions League opener at Newcastle United.
Asked about his situation, Christensen said: "I didn't go with the national team because I wanted to be fit. I wanted to come back fit. Last year was difficult for me. I came back a little early in preseason to be ready.
"I want to stay. I want to express my feelings and my love for the club; I want to stay. That's been my plan from the beginning.
"There are plenty of games and opportunities for everyone. We're all playing well. We have to be ready for when the manager needs us.
"I feel great right now. It was difficult, but I'm fine now. The physios are working well with me and taking great care of us."
