Last season, the Morocco international managed to score one goal and provide six assists in his 30 LaLiga games, 13 of which were starts.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Diaz is hoping to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place under soon-to-be manager Mourinho.
Italian giants Juventus have been heavily linked with a move as Luciano Spalletti pushes the club to make more attacking signings.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will agree to his wish, however.
