Hansi Flick’s side are looking more depleted day by day with Raphinha, 28, now a major doubt for their trip to Real Madrid at the end of the month.
The Brazilian, who sustained a thigh injury in a match against Real Oviedo two weeks ago, had been expected to feature against Girona and Olympiacos to build fitness ahead of the first El Classico of the season.
However, Spanish outlet Sport now report that Raphinha felt some discomfort during recent fitness tests and has had to put a halt to his recovery.
The news comes after striker Robert Lewandowski was confirmed to miss out on La Liga’s premier fixture after picking up a thigh muscle tear suffered during Poland’s World Cup qualifier against Lithuania.
Spanish trio Joan Garcia, Ferran Torres, and Dani Olmo have also picked up knocks, although Torres should be fit for the game against Real Madrid having returned to training.
