Former Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he feels bad for Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner.

Glasner is out of contract in the summer and has turned down the offer of a new deal to remain at Selhurst Park, declaring he is “ready for a new challenge”.

The Austrian revealed he feels “abandoned” by the board after losing Eberechi Eze to Arsenal and now Marc Guehi to Manchester City in a deal that is set to be announced later this week.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss is keen to leave Palace once the campaign ends and speaking on talkSPORT, Pardew has admitted that it is tough for Glasner who is constantly losing his best players.

"I do have sympathy, with Newcastle we went into it and didn't have the squad big enough, and it hurt us in the league.

"I do have sympathy with him for that (losing Guehi)," Pardew admitted. "He lost Eze at the start of the year and yesterday that was painful.

"According to Oliver (Glasner), he was doing set plays with Guehi in the team, and then they get the shout that the deal is done, and he needs to go...I can understand him throwing his toys out of the pram."

Glasner led Palace to the FA Cup last season with a remarkable win over Manchester City, their first trophy in 70 years. Guehi will not feature for Palace again and Glasner will have to deal with his departure as his side compete domestically and in Europe without arguably their best defender.
