The Hammers face Burton on the back of an impressive 1-1 draw with Manchester United in midweek.
Fernandes told whufc.com: “We need to try to focus on our things, things we can control.
“We know we have fast players in the front, so we tried to play on the counter-attack (against Manchester United) and we did well.
“It's football, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The most important thing is tomorrow, to try to recover well and be ready for the next game.
“The first thing he (Nuno) said after the game (on Tuesday) was ‘if we play like this, we'll be OK in the Premier League’, so we need to focus on our things and try to be even better.
“We know the next game will be for the cup and we need to be ready for the win.”
