Blind, now a free agent after leaving Girona FC, has been revealed as an Ajax player this week as the 36 year old defender makes his return to the Netherlands.
The veteran’s first spell with the side was in 2008-2014 when he was a academy graduate and he then returned to the side from 2018-2022 following his departure from Manchester United.
He now begins his third spell at Ajax as the club confirmed the move this week alongside a video showing his longevity at the side.
“Ajax has reached an agreement with Daley Blind regarding his return to the club. The defender, who was available on a free transfer, has signed a contract with immediate effect until June 30, 2027.”
Jordi Cruijff, Technical Director at the club, spoke on the move as he welcome back the club legend.
"It's great to welcome Daley back to the club where it all began for him. He brings experience, composure and quality, and those are attributes that can help this group immediately. For us, this is a logical move because someone with his background and personality fits perfectly with what we want to build."
Blind made 333 appearances for Ajax, scoring 13 goals and providing 21 assists throughout his first two spells and now he will be hoping to help the side get back to their old selves next season after a major lull in form.
