Bristol City have signed midfielder Gibson Yah from Eredivisie side Volendam for an undisclosed fee, tying the 22-year-old to a four-year contract until the summer of 2030.

The Dutch youth international began his development at Ajax, joining their academy at the age of 11 before making his professional debut for Jong Ajax at 17.

He moved to Utrecht in 2022, impressing with their reserve side before earning a switch to Volendam. Last season, Yah made 26 appearances in the Dutch top flight, establishing himself as a promising midfield option.

He becomes Bristol City’s third signing in 48 hours, following arrivals of Sam Tickle and Sam Greenwood, as the club continues to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.

“James Ellis and Michael Skubala showed me their vision. They told me the plans they have for me and especially the trust they were speaking about,” Yah told club media.

“I’m here to show them what I can do. I don’t like to speak words, so I prefer to show it on the pitch and I will do my best for the club and for the team to make sure I succeed.

“It’s going to be a new environment for me, but I think I’m in good hands here. I can’t wait to get started, get on the pitch with the boys and show what I can do.”
