Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has revealed the meaning of his iconic celebration.

The 27-year-old has pulled off his mask celebration on 11 occasions since signing for the Gunners in the summer after what has been a steady start in North London.

Gyokeres has 11 goals in his opening 30 appearances for Arsenal but has not been able to pull out his celebration as much as he would have wanted as fans stick beside him after a dip in form.

Now with six goal contributions in his last six games, the Swedish star has spoken to CBS Sports about what his mask celebration means as he tries to get on the scoresheet more often.

“I was with my friends, and they were on at me because I was always celebrating in different ways, and I think they were a bit tired to see that. They wanted me to get my own celebration. I also thought it was a good idea.

“We came together with the one I have now. I think it was a pretty good one to do. I have enjoyed doing it, and still do. It’s been amazing. I’m not sure if I said it was Bane, but it can be.”

Gyokeres scored at the weekend as Arsenal beat Leeds United 4-0 at Elland Road. He will lead the line once more on Tuesday night as the Gunners face Chelsea in the EFL Cup Semi-final on the hunt for silverware.
