Manchester City legend Yaya Toure has reportedly agreed to become the new head coach of SK Slovan Bratislava.

Toure has held roles at Olimpik Donetsk, Akhmat Grozny, Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, Standard Liege, and most recently as part of Roberto Mancini’s staff with the Saudi Arabia national team as he slowly worked his way into being a manager.

He officially earned his UEFA Pro Licence in January of last year, and is now ready to take the step up to become a full time head coach as reported by Sky Sports.

The report claims that the former midfielder agreed terms with Slovan Bratislava to become their new manager ahead of the new season and that the Ivorian will aim to bring in former Celtic and Swansea coach Darren O’Dea to be by his side.

Toure’s move into management comes after former Bratislava manager Vladimir Weiss stepped down from the role after five years in the dugout, opening the door for the 43 year old who will hope to take over in the coming weeks.

Slovan Bratislava have won the last eight top division titles but despite their success domestically, they have failed in Europe.

After losing in Champions League qualifying, then in a Europa League qualifying play-off, the club finished 29th out of the 36 teams in the league phase of the Conference League.

One of Toure’s main objectives will be to fix this, especially with the summer transfer window due to open soon, allowing him to make changes to a side who also reportedly looked at Albert Riera, Igor Biscan, Nenad Bjelica and Vladan Milojevic over Toure.
