Liverpool conceded a last minute equaliser against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon in a result that has seriously hurt the champions’ chances of securing Champions League football.
The Hungarian scored a sublime free kick to open the scoring, but it was not enough as The Reds collapsed once more in a result that many believe sums up Liverpool’s season so far.
Liverpool were booed off at the end of the game by a section of the Anfield crowd who have become frustrated with the side who are on the verge of being knocked out of the Champions League.
Speaking after the loss, Szoboszlai pleaded with fans to back the side who cannot seem to find consistency under manager Arne Slot.
"I don’t think it helps us that after 80 minutes people start to go home; it doesn’t help us at all.
"Stick with us. Everyone is noticing that, and when we concede a goal, still people are leaving - you don’t leave when we score. I understand the frustration, but we need them; we need everybody.
“It should be normal that in hard times we stick together more because that’s what we need."
Liverpool sit in fifth place with eight games to go, behind fourth-placed Aston Villa by two points. They next face Galatasaray on Wednesday night where they must overturn a 1-0 loss from the first leg.
Failure to overturn the result will see Slot’s men miss out on another trophy and only have the FA Cup to play for when it comes to silverware this season.
