Benfica shocked Real Madrid 4-2 on Wednesday night to send both teams into the draw for the Champions League round 16 play-offs.
Mourinho said afterwards: "I think it was absolutely deserved. Kylian had two chances and scored both goals. For Benfica, beating Real Madrid is an incredible honour.
"They hadn't played against them since the fantastic years when they met in the Champions League finals. And this is fantastic for the prestige of Benfica and the players. And next time it's either Real Madrid or Inter...
"I can't say one or the other (I prefer to face). I like going to Madrid and I like going to Milan. Seeing friends is always a pleasure. Madrid and Inter are teams that can win the Champions League, and we, at most, can do something incredible like today.
"Madrid and Inter are among the top contenders. We aren't, but we compete. We lost to Chelsea, but we competed. We lost to Juve, but we competed. We beat Madrid... It's harder against two than against one, but football is football. We're building a team, a real team. You can't do it individually. We'll see. Now we have to try to keep doing what we're doing."
"The changes I made when the score was 3-2 were to hold on. Then, just a few seconds later, they told me not to. And we got lucky with the set piece. Trubin, from two metres out, scored a fantastic goal, historic! Very well deserved. I don't speculate about the future, but tonight, very well deserved."
On his post-whistle comments to Real Madrid counterpart Alvaro Arbeloa, Mourinho admits he was apologetic for the celebrations.
He explained, "I celebrated. But Álvaro is a football man and he understood that in that moment you forget he's on the bench, that Chendo is there, that your teammates are there. You forget everything. And he told me not to worry."
