Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has spoken on the crushing defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

A stunning hat-trick by Federico Valverde has put a dent in City’s Champions League chances after a tough first leg for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Real are now strong favourites to progress to the quarter-finals and the Premier League side have a mammoth task to try and turn the tie around in the second leg at the Etihad.

Speaking after the game, Silva admitted that the loss was hard to take and that his side paid the price for not being at their best.

"At 3-0 it makes it a bit more difficult. Now it feels really bad, now it feels really dark. But tomorrow is another day and for sure next week we will go to the game thinking we have a chance."

"I think my team let emotions change the game. We felt comfortable, finding the right spaces, but after conceding the first goal we completely lost control, stopped controlling transitions and second balls. When you play against Real Madrid with the quality they have, you pay the price."

A comeback at the Etihad?

His teammate Jeremy Doku was much more optimistic however, as the Belgian claimed that a comeback is not impossible.

“I feel like from 3-0 to 4-0 is a completely different score. I feel like that helped us massively. We’re still confident, we trust our quality.

“We know that playing at the Etihad it is a different game. We will need our fans to help us. If they can score three goals why can’t we?

“It would be crazy if I said there was no chance. Everything is possible in football so we still believe.

“If we score quickly it’s a different game with the supporters and everything, you put them under pressure.”
