Isak, who has now missed Liverpool's last three games with a groin injury, has had a very slow start to life under Slot after missing out on Newcastle United pre-season preparation after forcing a move to Merseyside.
The Swedish international hasn’t featured since being replaced at half-time of the Champions League win at Eintracht Frankfurt a fortnight ago and, as per journalist Paul Joyce, he is likely to miss the clash with Madrid.
“Alexander Isak misses Liverpool training ahead of Real Madrid. Curtis Jones back with group.”
A video from fellow journalist Ian Doyle also provides insight into the training group, which revealed that midfielder Curtis Jones returns to the side in a positive update for Slot.
Isak is yet to live up to his price tag for Liverpool, scoring just once so far in an EFL Cup clash with Southampton. Fellow striker Hugo Ekitike looks likely to start, with the Frenchman Liverpool’s most successful summer signing so far after bagging 6 goals and 1 assist in 14 appearances this season.
The striker will join goalkeeper Alisson Becker and defender Jeremie Frimpong (both hamstring) who remain sidelined for a number of weeks.
