Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to sign former RB Leipzig midfielder Xaver Schlager as a free agent.

The 28-year-old spent four years at RB Leipzig having joined from Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg back in 2022.

Leipzig had tried to renew Schlager’s contract before his exit earlier in the summer but were unable to come to an agreement.

Now, according to The Athletic, the central midfielder is leading to the Premier League with Oliver Glasner’s Nottingham Forest.

Schlager had attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe, but will sign a two-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months.
