Nigeria will host the CAF Awards ceremony and the 48th Ordinary General Assembly later this year, marking the country’s return to a major role in African football administration.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that President Bola Tinubu approved the hosting rights after meeting CAF President Patrice Motsepe during the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi.

The CAF General Assembly is scheduled for October, while the awards date remains unconfirmed.

Nigeria last hosted the CAF Awards in 2017 in Abuja, while the General Assembly was last held in the country in 2009 in Lagos.

The move also ends Morocco’s four-year run as host of the awards ceremony.
