The French forward has long expressed his admiration for the Real Madrid legend and has now followed in his footsteps by becoming the marquee star at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mbappe has since revealed that he and Ronaldo stay in regular contact, admitting he feels “lucky” to have the chance to learn from and seek advice from the player he idolised while growing up.
“Cristiano has always been a role model, an example, for me,” Mbappe told Universo Valdano.
“I'm lucky to be able to talk to him. He gives me advice, helps me... He's the number one, the biggest reference at Real Madrid. People, even now, still dream of Cristiano.
“He's the best, but I want to forge my own path, and it will be historic for me and for Real Madrid. I want to do something historic with Real Madrid.”
