Maguire has regained favour since Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United last month.
Interim U18s coach Darren Fletcher oversaw matches against Burnley and Brighton before Carrick was appointed head coach until season’s end.
Under Carrick, United have gone unbeaten in six games, winning five, including victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.
Maguire has started all six matches, completing five, and is showing some of his best football under Carrick.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s clash with Crystal Palace, Carrick said there is “a lot more to come” from the centre-back.
"Harry's an impressive character. He's had a great career so far and hopefully there's a lot more to come,” he said.
“I think in what he's been here and the journey and the experiences that he's had certainly since he's been here and with England as well I think show exactly what he is.
"Within the squad there is that balance, you want that younger potential and excitement, but you need the sweet spot in the middle with players at the peak, and experience is massive.
