Japanese great Kazu Miura has returned to Japanese pro football.

The former Genoa and Santos star, who turns 59 in February, has signed with J3 club, Fukushima United. It will be the first time Miura has played in the J-League - the nation's three top divisions - in five years. He joins Fukushima on-loan from Yokohama FC.

Miura was playing with fourth division and semi-pro Atletico Suzuka last season.

"My passion for football hasn't changed, no matter how old I get," he said as he prepares for a 41st season as a professional footballer.

"I'm very grateful to be given this opportunity. I promise I will play with everything I have to make a contribution. Let's make history together!"
