He told TMW: "A few years ago a scout from Brighton called me and told me that they were working on scouting and that one of the players they had put under the magnifying glass was Davide himself.

"It was during Potter's management, there was no De Zerbi yet, they followed him and would have done everything to bring him to Brighton.
"Sassuolo rightly made different choices, first in retaining him and then in selling him to Inter even though the English were among the clubs that would have done anything to get him."
