There was an electric atmosphere inside the Signal Iduna Park for the 140th competitive edition of Der Klassiker, matched by an energetic start from both sides.
The side hosting the German Super Cup had lost four of the last five editions, but BVB showed no early signs of buckling as Konstantinos Karetsas bent in a searching ball, almost setting up Serhou Guirassy for the opener.
However, after a period of Bayern pressure, the visitors broke the deadlock through Brown, who received a lay-off from Michael Olise before sending a snapshot past Gregor Kobel.
Bayern came out on top in both league encounters last season, and they were looking dominant as the first half progressed, with Kobel’s fingertips needed to keep out Luis Diaz’s curling effort.
At the other end, Ramy Bensebaini thought he’d levelled the game, but his deft touch from a deep set-piece delivery came from an offside position.
That opened the door for Bayern to double their advantage before half-time, and after Brown had threatened again, Olise latched onto a loose Jobe Bellingham pass, strode into the box with ease, and calmly prodded home.
Manuel Neuer had to be alert to a drilled Karetsas strike after the break as Dortmund looked for a response, aggressively pursuing a route back into the contest. Yet with an hour played, BVB remained two goals behind, prompting Niko Kovač to make a triple change in search of fresh impetus.
Die Roten hadn’t kept a head-to-head clean sheet since 2023, and with 15 minutes to play, substitute Fabio Silva made sure that streak would continue as he buried Daniel Svensson's pullback.

That goal set up an intriguing finale, and late lapse in concentration from Neuer that almost presented Bellingham with an open goal before he swiftly recovered.
A straight red card for an overzealous challenge from Bensebaini moments later looked to spell the end, but there was still time for Maximilian Beier to spurn one last golden chance for BVB.
As a result, the six-time German Super Cup winners will have to wait at least another year to extend that tally, having now lost more than half of the games they’ve hosted, each to Bayern (W3, L4). In the meantime, Die Schwarzgelben turn their attention to their Bundesliga opener with Hamburger SV, while Vincent Kompany’s side start their title defence at home to VfB Stuttgart.
