Carlo Ancelotti’s daughter has shed light on the ongoing feud between her father and Gennaro Gattuso, which erupted after Ancelotti was dismissed by Napoli.

The Italian was reportedly upset with Gattuso for taking over the role without informing him. As a player, Gattuso had enjoyed a close relationship with Ancelotti at AC Milan, where they won two Champions League titles together.

The bond soured when Napoli CEO Aurelio Di Laurentiis began planning Ancelotti’s sacking and held early talks with Gattuso.

Upon hearing the rumours, the Brazil coach reached out to his former student, only to be denied any contact. Days later, following a Champions League win over Genk, Ancelotti was dismissed and Gattuso hired, leaving the former boss so upset he avoided eye contact while clearing his locker.

“They never spoke or saw each other again. Dad was upset and doesn't pretend anything happened,” she told Corriere della Sera.

“Rino never called him again, they'll probably see each other again at the World Cup, we all hope Italy goes there. A Brazil-Italy final would be great, the last one was in 1994, dad was Sacchi's assistant. Where was Gattuso?!"
