Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor says the role of Wataru Endo in the team's midfield cannot be underestimated.

Mellor highlighted the Japan international when reviewing the Reds' win against Brighton on the weekend.

He said on LFCTV: “It was another brilliant attacking performance and it was a joy to watch, the atmosphere was great and it was a deserved victory, we had 30 shots.

“Our winner was just a top goal! It's just an absolutely brilliant pass from Mac Allister and a top finish from Mo Salah.

“What you have to remember about Mac Allister is he has been away with Argentina and a long flight home, but he was magnificent!

“The vision he has is unbelievable and playing alongside [Wataru] Endo has allowed him to get forward and influence games."
