Liverpool on outer as Xabi holds Bayern Munich talks

He is also wanted by Liverpool, but may feel that challenge is a little too steep this early in his managerial career.

While expectations at Bayern may be as high, they do have vast resources compared to other Bundesliga clubs.

Liverpool are still hoping they can lure Alonso to replace Jurgen Klopp in the summer.
