Former Barcelona midfielder Emmanuel Petit felt Vinicius Jr should've been sent off for Real Madrid last night.
Vini Jr scored as Real drew 1-1 with RB Leipzig to reach the Champions League quarterfinals 2-1 on aggregate.
And he also escaped action after shoving RB Leipzig's Willi Orban in the face during the tense clash.
Petit said on RMC: "I even think it's in the subconscious of the referees. I experienced it at the time with Monaco against the great AC Milan, with its trio of Dutchmen who dominated Europe. They played European Cup finals, won the Scudetto. There were serious refereeing errors at home that were not sanctioned by the referee. And yet, they were brazen actions.
“At that time there was no VAR and even we, the players, told ourselves that it was strange.
“I'm not talking about corruption, I'm not talking about conspiracy. But I think even the referees, when they go there, are impressed... it's the status of Real Madrid. Now, is that enough to justify everything that has been happening for many years now?
“At that point, I'm not going to shout conspiracy saying that there is a desire to protect Real Madrid. But I think that in the subconscious of the referees this plays a very important role."
