Ex-Aston Villa defender Dublin: Carlos and Torres must do better

Former Aston Villa defender Dion Dublin says their 3-3 draw to Brentford was due to their centre-halves' poor form.

Dublin took aim at Pau Torres and Diego Carlos afterwards.

He said: "Everything is going well for Villa at the moment but there are little things they can tidy up on.

"Defensively, their positional play is not great. (First goal) Carlos has got to come back, if he just comes back a couple of yards then he doesn't lose his man. Why he comes out of that position I don't know, as a centre-half you stay in the middle of the goal and allow your full-backs to do the blocking.

"Again, this is Torres now. Torres gets his eyes on Mbeumo here and can see where he is. You've got to stay touch tight and know where your forward is. He goes into that space, gets under the ball, and they were punished.

"It happened all game. Don't worry about the ball, mark the man. The ball is not going to score by itself."
