Barcelona wing-back Cancelo: It didn't work out with Pep

Juan Cancelo has declared he is ready to stay with Barcelona.

The wing-back is currently on-loan at Barca from Manchester City this season.

He told RTP: “I'm very happy to be at Barcelona, it's the club I've always wanted to play for. After Benfica, it's the club I liked the most. I also told Pepe that I am where I always wanted to be."

Asked about the relationship with City boss Pep Guardiola, Cancelo said: “I have no resentment towards him, he is a person with a strong personality and even if there were things we didn't agree on we always made it clear to each other. He is the best coach in the world, but it didn't work and life goes on. I am very happy at Barcelona."

He continued: “(Roberto) Martinez? I had good feelings when I met him, he is a modern coach who likes attacking play and who gives us a lot of freedom.

"He knows every player, analyzes the opponents and our performances at the club. The speed with which he learned Portuguese to speak to us is exceptional. I hope I can be called up for the European Championship since I didn't play the last one.

"I hope to succeed because it is a pride to represent Portugal."
