The Bayern Munich striker made the result safe in the closing stages with his 11th World Cup goal and a third so far in the USA. That brings him ahead of Gary Lineker as England's all-time World Cup top scorer and he remains crucial to the Three Lions hopes of a first major title since 1966.
Kane's vital role means Thomas Tuchel is balancing a delicate situation with his game time after making 51 appearances in each of his last two seasons at club level.
The 31-year-old completed 90 minutes in England's opening two games, scoring twice in the 4-2 win over Croatia, and drawing a blank in the 0-0 stalemate with Ghana.
Tuchel substituted him with just six minutes remaining against Panama - 17 minutes after he scored - and former England captain Wayne Rooney is concerned he's being overused.
"In previous tournaments, Kane has looked a little tired coming towards the end of them. He didn't come off until the 84th minute against Panama," Rooney told BBC Sport.
"The minute he scores and England go 2-0 up, the game's done. I'd be taking him off right then.
"That gives him a break for those final 20 minutes, that's when you get fatigued, as the game takes a lot out of you as a player.
"We saw it with Gareth Southgate. He'd never take Kane off and I hope Tuchel learns from that and rests him when he can."
Kane played 90 minutes of more in five of England's seven games in the 2018 World Cup and three from five in 2022 - but Southgate did famously remove him in the final of UEFA Euro 2024 - as England lost 2-1 to Spain in Munich.
