The Three Lions eased into the knockout stages after finishing top of Group L with seven points and they take on DR Congo in the Round of 32 where extra time and penalties are a possibility.
After years of penalty heartbreak at major tournaments, England's record changed under Tuchel's predecessor Gareth Southgate, as they beat Colombia in a shootout as part of the 2018 World Cup last 16.
That was England's first shootout win at a World Cup/UEFA European Championship since 1996, and it broke a key mental barrier for Southgate's team on the biggest stage.
It was eventually balanced against the frustration of losing to Italy on penalties in the final of Euro 2020 - before edging out Switzerland at Euro 2024.
Penalties are always on the mind for England fans, and Declan Rice has confidently claimed this squad have the best takers in world football, and Tuchel has insisted there will be no major change to their approach.
"The FA has a programme that has been in place for years and we follow the programme. We are prepared. We have a process, the players have a process.
"It's difficult to simulate the situation (of a penalty shootout). We know who takes them and we know the order, but we don't know who finishes the game."
Captain Harry Kane scored his retaken penalty in England's opening 4-2 win over Croatia and he's expected to be No.1 on Tuchel's list.
