The Croatian Football Federation has officially announced Bilic as Zlatko Dalic’s successor following his first spell in charge of his country in which he lasted from 2006 to 2012.
Bilic’s first stint saw him grab 42 wins, 15 draws and eight defeats from 65 matches.
Croatia finished second in Group L, one point behind England, but were knocked out of the tournament with a 2-1 defeat to Portugal in the round of 32.
Speaking on being reappointed, Bilic stated that he is delighted with a return which will see him manage a whole new generation of Croatian players.
"I have the complete confidence in our players, and it is my responsibility to bring energy, ambition and determination to ensure that Croatia remains among football's elite," said Bilic.
"I am genuinely happy to start this challenge and I feel fully prepared for it - as a more mature and experienced coach than in 2006, yet with the same motivation and desire to see Croatia stay powerful, bold, and successful."
Bilic has been out of management since leaving Saudi Pro League side Al Fateh in 2024 but having managed West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion and Watford he certainly has the experience to lead Croatia after their World Cup heartbreak.
