Barcelona have reportedly opened talks with Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.

Kane’s strike against Panama was his 70th of the season for club and country, a tally that saw him surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s career-best haul for a single campaign as he continues to thrive at 32 years old.

The England number 9 has scored three goals for his country in the World Cup group stage, including a brace against Croatia which helped the Three Lions progress to face DR Congo in the Round of 32.

The Bayern star, who also overtook Gary Lineker as England's all-time top scorer at the World Cup, is now said to be the main target for Barcelona this summer.

As per Forbes, Barcelona are keen to pounce while the striker remains on his current deal which sees his contract expire next year. Kane wants to extend until 2030, but Bayern want just a two-year extension which then opens the door for the Spanish side.

Kane bagged 61 goals in 51 matches for Bayern Munich last season, proving himself to be one of the deadliest strikers on the planet.

He is perhaps one of only a handful of strikers who could possibly replace Robert Lewandowski who departs Barcelona this summer at the expiration of his contract.

If he did make the move, he would link up with teammate Anthony Gordon who made the switch from Newcastle United at the start of the summer window.
