The West London club are once again looking for a new manager following Liam Rosenior’s disastrous spell at the helm.
BlueCo said in their statement following Rosenior’s sacking that there will be a ‘period of reflection’ before they appoint his replacement.
According to the I paper, Chelsea have identified former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso as their preferred candidate to take over.
It’s understood that Alonso is open to taking over at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea’s chances of hiring him will likely depend on whether Liverpool stick with Arne Slot or not.
Alonso isn’t the only name on Chelsea’s shortlist, both Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola have been linked with the job.
