The 23-year-old has arguably been Liverpool’s best player of the season so far, adding another two goals to his Premier League tally for the season.
His first came in the first minute when Joe Gomez won a header, setting Ekiteke up perfectly to open the scoring.
It wasn’t until the 60th minute he would get his second when Mohamed Salah’s corner picked him out perfectly, allowing him to head home.
Speaking after the game, the striker downplayed the significance of his brace, saying: "I wouldn't say it was perfect because I know I could score way more today. The most important was to win in front of our fans. It was a good day at work."
On his first goal: "The ball came quick. I tried to be ready. You don't expect to score in the first minute and I try to be always ready."
On his second goal: "He gave me a great ball, I just had to be in a good place. It was easy to finish.
"I was looking for the hat-trick but it is going to be another time. It was good, two goals. We try to stick together and work together. Today wasn't easy. We had to stay compact and stick together. I think we deserved it. We did a great week and let's continue.
"When you play for Liverpool, you just have to win games. We are Liverpool, we need to win."
