The Reds suffered their third consecutive defeat in all competitions as Estevao struck in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 win for Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
Manager Arne Slot decided to bench Wirtz as he struggles to o connect with his new teammates after leaving Bayer Leverkusen for around £116M in the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Sky90, Voller explained why the German international has been struggling as he continues to look out of place in the Premier League.
"He does an incredible amount, runs a lot, sprints a lot, and also drops deep.
"But he doesn't get passed to him the way he was used to in Leverkusen or the national team. You have to work on that over the course of weeks and months.
“I deliberately watched some Liverpool games with him. He does an incredible amount of work, runs a lot, makes many sprints, and also goes deep.
“But he isn’t played to in the way he was used to at Leverkusen or with the national team. That’s something that has to be developed over weeks and months.”
Other pundits such as Gary Neville stated that Wirtz “looks very immature in his knowledge of how to play the game” after the Chelsea game as the young playmaker tries to bounce back from his poor form. For now, he has looked like a failed signing but time will tell whether or not he will get back to his old self.
