Sterling, 30, is one of the last few remaining members of Chelsea’s infamous ‘bomb squad’ having failed to secure a move this summer.
He spent 2024-25 on loan at Premier League rivals Arsenal but failed to establish himself, scoring just one goal and providing five assists in his 28 games across all competitions.
According to the BBC, he had plenty of options, with Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus interested from abroad plus Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
It’s understood Sterling is reluctant to lower his massive £300,000 per-week wages and would prefer to remain in London, where is family is settled.
Sterling is still under contract at Stamford Bridge for another two years and is expected to earn £30 million during that time.
