West Ham could fall from 17th-placed side into the relegation zone before Thursday's game depending on other results this week, meaning 3 points against the Red Devils are more important than ever.
Paqueta has apologized
The Hammers could now secure back-to-back league wins on Man United's turf for the first time since 1934 after winning both games last season.
West Ham will be without Lucas Paqueta for this week’s game, however, after he picked up a red card against Liverpool in behaviour that he said was “ridiculous” and is a "reflection of everything I've had to endure" after his recent betting scandal.
“I spoke with Lucas,” Nuno said. “And he spoke not only with me but with all his teammates.
"First of all he apologised. He’s aware of his mistake. But we as a club, first and foremost protect our own and solve things among ourselves.
"It was clear that everyone understood that in life, everybody is aware that mistakes can happen inside the football pitch.
"Sometimes the emotions sometimes, you can’t control them, but at the same time everybody has a chance (to make up for it).
"So we move forward, Lucas will be out of the game against Man Utd, but he will be involved in the next one."
Paqueta is not okay
Paqueta was cleared of spot-fixing charges by an independent regulatory commission after a two-year investigation into the Brazil star. Nuno continued, citing that the midfielder is not doing okay.
"He is not OK. He is suffering. he is disappointed and upset. But he realises the mistake that he made and he is willing to move forward. This is what sometimes people are not aware of the problems that football players endure. But Lucas I think is going to overcome this situation.
"I think it (the investigation) is affecting him but he is willing to move forward, to try and put this aside and continue to play football in the way that he does.
"What I can assure you is that here at the club we have all the support that the players need. We have processes in the club that help and we are willing to provide assistance here in the club."
Lastly, Nuno commented on team news ahead of the game, which two stars will miss due as they return to full fitness.
On Crysencio Summerville: "I don’t think so unfortunately. He still has some issues and we are still assessing, so I think Thursday will be too soon."
On Ollie Scarles: “Oli has started training with no contact but hasn’t been cleared for full training yet. He has been involved with many parts of the session."
