Mourinho led the Red Devils for just over two years, but ultimately couldn't make the club English champions once again even if he was brought in on the back of winning multiple titles at various clubs. Things have changed massively since at Old Trafford with Sir Jim Ratcliffe now leading the club's football operations which has sparked controversy amongst fans.
As United come off the back of their worst ever Premier League season, Mourinho spoke to Canal 11 about how that Ratcliffe’s lack of football know-how is a huge problem for the club and that even if manager Ruben Amorim is trying his best, Ratcliffe will hold them back.
"Today, I think that with the change in ownership at the club, with an owner who doesn't have much experience in football but rather in sport... What happened to Ruben, from being the manager of the worst Manchester United in Premier League history to having continuity and confidence to continue and be Ruben Amorim, is a sign that a lot needs to change.
“With that stability... We all agree that he's a manager with great potential and personality. I think he has incredible potential to do great work."
Mourinho finished sixth in his first season with the Manchester outfit, but did deliver the Carabao Cup and the Europa League. He is perhaps the most successful United manager in recent history despite the disrespect from the media. This then gives value to his opinion surrounding the club hierarchy which clearly isnt working as it should.
