Villa were thumped 3-0 by the visitors, with Palace worthy winners on the night.
Speaking post-match, Mings said: “It wasn’t good. I don’t think it was necessarily due to a lack of effort, the goals we conceded were really poor.
“I’ve seen some tough times at this club, this isn’t necessarily one of them.
“Now is the time to be calm and block out the noise of everything that’s going to come our way, because we’ve started the season really poorly.
“But now’s the time to stick together.”
Mings added, “Of course, I’d love to stand here and tell you why our start to the season has been so poor. Everybody can point to different variables as to why it might be.
“But, again, it’s for us to stay calm and for us to act as professionally as possible. And the players who want to be here, now’s the time to dig in, stay calm and fight for the badge.”
