Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has revealed that Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire were feeling unwell during the Reds’ 2-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace.

Shaw, who appeared to take a heavy knock from Daniel Munoz, continued until the 24th minute but eventually had to leave despite treatment on the pitch.

Noussair Mazraoui replaced him effectively at left-back, though concerns briefly arose over the player’s availability, given his streak of starting every Premier League game this season.

Maguire also struggled against Jorgen Strand Larsen and was substituted in the 88th minute for Ayden Heaven to help see United over the line against ten men.

Speaking to the BBC, Carrick clarified that the issues were due to illness rather than injury, adding: “They just weren’t feeling too well, so hopefully they’ll be better soon.”
