Carrick, 44, has been a revelation since coming in as interim manager following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.
Man United were seventh when the former midfielder took charge, now they’re third and have secured Champions League football for next season.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the two parties have now reached a ‘broad agreement’ over Carrick becoming United’s next permanent manager.
It’s understood the deal Carrick and his backroom staff has been offered is a two-year contract with the option to extend by 12 months.
The club had previously made checks on other candidates, including Andoni Iraola and Unai Emery, but have concluded that Carrick is the man to take United forward.
