Guehi has been outstanding for the Eagles this season and is wanted by a number of clubs including City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich who are keen on snapping up the England star.
The defender’s contract expires at the end of the season and is said to be available for around £35M this January in a move away that looks certain as clubs try to steal him away.
After his price tag was revealed this week, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has stated that City have now made an approach as they make yet another January signing after snapping up Anotine Semenyo earlier this month.
“EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City advance on Marc Guehi deal as big approach has been made in the last 12h.
“Manchester City presented important proposal to Guehi in terms of contract, eventually ready to proceed also with Crystal Palace.
“Deal now closer with #MCFC.”
City are in the market for a defender after injuries to Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias and John Stones and Guehi looks like the perfect solution for manager Pep Guardiola who clearly knows what he wants.
The 25-year-old is not going to sign a contract extension and he is set to leave in 2026, whether that is this January or in the summer is unknown.
