Guardiola is keeping his cards close to his chest when it comes to deciding whether to see out the two-year contract he signed in 2025.
According to the iPaper, though, Man City have "sounded out" Enzo Maresca as a possible replacement following his sacking from Chelsea in January.
The Spaniard's former assistant, who left the Etihad to join Leicester City in 2023, is seen as a short-term solution if Guardiola does call time on his decade-long stay in Manchester this summer.
Beyond Maresca's potential appointment, sources close to the club say that Vincent Kompany being appointed City manager in a few years is "inevitable".
Kompany achieved legendary status with the Cityzens as a commanding centre-back, and has since become one of the world's best managers at Bayern Munich following a year stint at Burnley.
Bayern were just narrowly beaten 6-5 on aggregrate by Paris-Saint Germain in the Champions League semi-finals, but the Belgian's stock still continues to rise and eventually returning to City would be the perfect fairytale.
