"The sky is the limit as the people say, right?" Guardiola said. "It depends on him.
"Whatever he wants to become, he can achieve it because of course he is an incredibly talented, talented player."
Cherki, 22, is registering a goal or assist every 74 minutes in his debut season for City.
On City's ambitions this season, Guardiola said: "It is going really well - we are there.
"In the Champions League we are up there, in the Premier League we are up there, we have the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. Some important players are coming back too. Rodri is much, much better."
