Liverpool are out of the Premier League title race as well as the EFL Cup in what has been a tough season so far which sees the champions in 6th place, 14 points behind leaders Arsenal.
The Reds’ drop in form this season has been well documented but since the start of the year, the side have begun a resurgence and look more like their old selves.
Wins against Newcastle United, Qarabag, Marseille and draw against the Gunners has brought optimism. Mac Allister, speaking this week, has revealed that a notable meeting with Slot has made a difference.
"The manager had a really good meeting where he said that we needed to improve in both boxes.
"That’s what we wanted, and I think we showed it in the last two games.
“We were more aggressive, we pressed a little bit more, and we showed that 'punch' that was missing. It is about being consistent now, which is going to be key."
"We feel like we are in a much better moment than the beginning of the season (when Liverpool lost to City). We have improved quite a lot since that game in Manchester."
Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in what should be a tough test for Slot and his side, who could climb into the top 4. Mac Allister says the game being at home should help their chances against a City side who drew 2-2 last time out to Tottenham.
"At Anfield, with our fans behind us, everything becomes a little bit easier. We know how much this game means."
