The 27-year-old was facing the threat of a ban that could have effectively ended his footballing career after being charged by the FA for deliberately getting himself booked.
Paqueta was charged in May 2024 by the FA with purposefully getting yellow cards in matches against Leicester City, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bournemouth during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
The charges alleged that the Brazilian got those yellow cards so that “one or more persons” could profit financially from betting on him being booked, something Paqueta has denied.
According to The Times, the West Ham star is now expected to be cleared of any wrongdoing by an independent regulatory commission, with the decision set to be announced next week.
The FA may also have to foot the bill for Paqueta’s legal fees, which could amount to a massive £1 million.
