Newcastle hero Lomana LuaLua is eagerly waiting on Yoane Wissa's debut.

LuaLua admits he coached Wissa when he was on the staff of DR Congo. The summer signing from Brentford is now fully fit after recovering from a knee injury suffered in preseason while with DR Congo.

LuaLua told ChronicleLive: "I was really happy. "He’s like my young bro and he is a fellow countryman and I have actually coached him because when he first started in the national team I was a striker coach.

"I have worked with him and he is a very good player and a great finisher. He likes to cut in from the left, as I used to do, and he is very clever.

"I can’t wait to see him wear the Newcastle shirt and I hope he will bring something different and do really well. He is like a little brother to me so I want to see him do well and it was a shame he picked up an injury with the national team.

"It will take some time for the supporters to see him but he knows what Newcastle is all about, he knows what he is getting himself into and it is a challenge he is really looking forward to.

"He knows if he gives his all, the fans will love him. At the end of the day, the Newcastle fans just want to see you give 100% and if you do that you will have all their love.

"He will go on to flourish there. It is not easy to have the No 9 shirt but he is ready for the challenge. If you accept that No 9 shirt, it shows you are ready mentally and I am sure he will score plenty of goals."
