Chelsea have dealt with a wave of negativity during the 2025/26 campaign, but BlueCo deserve huge credit for capturing Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.

The Blues paid around £60 million to lure Pedro to Stamford Bridge, and he's been worth his weight in gold.

Pedro has the most goals of any Chelsea player in the Premier League this term (15) and the most assists (five), while totalling 20 strikes in all competitions.

In a time when senior players have cowered in West London, the Brazilian has stood up to responsibility, leading by example on and off the pitch.

The 24-year-old showcased such leadership in an interview ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup final clash against Manchester City at Wembley, as he claimed he "spoke with everyone" in the squad about how they all need to improve.

"In the difficult moments you want to see who wants to win, who wants to improve. We have had a tough moment in the Premier League," Pedro said.

"I spoke with everyone here, especially with Reece. We need to change. We need to do something as players. We have conversations between us and everyone is very committed to improve and put Chelsea where it deserves."

Reece James is the current Chelsea captain and no one can take that away from him, but having watched him lead from the front this season, Pedro has proven he could handle the armband.
