Newcastle United Alexander Isak has effectively handed in his transfer request as he attempts to leave the club.

Isak was not named as part of Newcastle's squad for their pre-season tour of Asia in what the club deemed was an issue with his thigh issue which comes after he had trained alone this week amid speculation around his future.

The Sweden international, who scored 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season, has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool who had what would have been a record breaking £125M bid rejected for the striker earlier this month.

The Reds have since moved on to Hugo Ekitike who was snapped up on Wednesday afternoon which may make it difficult for Isak to make the move to Merseyside, especially now that their spending has gone over £300M for this summer alone.

Now, according to Mail Sport's Craig Hope, Isak has told Newcastle he wants to explore a move away from the club as he seeks to escape before the start of the new campaign. The 25-year-old has three years to run on his contract which means the club are in a strong position to keep hold of him.

However, Isak is likely to refuse to play for the side and him training alone as well as not taking part in the club’s preseason tour could be the start of a lot of trouble for manager Eddie Howe. Any bid of over £125M is likely to be accepted but it is such an incredible figure that not many elite sides have the cash for such a deal which means Isak may have to stay put at a side he clearly has no intentions of playing for.
