However, it was not all smooth for the Spanish coach, as he came in for post-match criticism over his handling of several incoming squad exits.
Arteta has confirmed there will be more departures before the end of the month with Gabriel Martinelli expected to be among those moving on from North London.
The Brazil international was left out of the matchday squad for Arsenal's FA Community Shield win over Manchester City last week and Arteta repeated that stance against Coventry.
Despite previously hinting at squad rules being the reason behind the call, it now looks clear Martinelli is not in Arteta's plans for the campaign ahead, and ex-Arsenal star Ian Wright called out the club's treatment of a key player.
"With respect to Martinelli and the way he's being treated at the moment, it really makes me feel uncomfortable.
"He always gives 100%. I'm not saying he's the greatest, but he's come up with some big moments for Arsenal, and scored some very important goals in big games.
"The way he's being treated at the end - and I know they might want him out - but there's ways of doing that. He's not being spoken to about the situation and what's going on.
"For him not to be involved, it makes me feel a bit sad for him. He deserves to be treated with a bit more respect than he is right now."
